VAG Cars owned by family and friends

Featured here are: The Volkswagen Golf Country owned by my brother. The Golf Cabriolet Classic-Line from my brother-in-law. The Golf MkV TDI of a friend living in France. And to top it off an Audi Allroad Quattro, owned by friends living in Canada.

'91 Volkswagen Golf Country.

Build by Steyr-Puch for Volkswagen. The car was originally marketed for emergency doctors in southern Germany and Austria. The Country had no problem leaving the paved roads and venture out to more challenging grounds. Doctors could now reach their patients, even in hard to get to areas.

Ahead of it's time...

The Golf Country was introduced in the early 90's. It could do anything that a current softroader can, and even better, I dare to say. I think the Country was born at least 10 years early and could not profit from the 4x4 hype going on these days.

Go anywhere, Do anything....

Allthough being 15yrs old, the GoCo isn't spared and is used for jobs it was designed to do. It stands up to this job very well. Besides normal maintenance, you shouldn't expect any major problems.

Only "problem" I know of is the startermotor. Electrics and water still don't go to well together, and if you launch your boat, drive trough wells and top it off with a mud-bath, expect to have the startermotor fail on you more often. It's located rather low in the engine bay and is one of the first parts to get submerged.

My brothers Golf Country never seizes to amaze me.

The Cabriolet owned by my brother-in-law.

This very clean convertible is for sale !!!!

'04 Audi Allroad Quattro 2.7T

My friends moved up from a Jetta 1.8T to this Allroad Quattro. The family grew to two boys, and the Jetta/Bora was stretched to it's limits. Some people will do anything to justify a bigger car :-)

Quattro

Living in Canada gives new meaning to winter driving. An Allroad Quattro with winter tires is a good investment in transporting your young family safely, and big fun to boot. Wise choice, my friend :-)

Here in Holland we tell ourselfs we NEED winter tires to drive safe. To some extend it's true. It gives us more confidence in driving, and gives us a reason to spend some more money on our cars. I think a man is the only creature on this earth who can get excited about 4 round black things that put a hole in your december budget the size of the North Pole.

Oh, and yes I've got them too...:-)
